(According to Ted, obviously)
If you spend enough time around dogs, you start realizing something:
They all have opinions.
Strong ones.
Some are reasonable.
Some are deeply confusing.
Some make absolutely no sense whatsoever.
Our mini goldendoodle Ted is no exception.
In fact, Ted is involved in just about everything we do here at Evergreen Dog Co. Every collar. Every leash. Every product photo attempt. Every workshop session. Every “quick trip” out to headquarters that somehow turns into Ted supervising from the middle of the floor like a tiny furry foreman.
Honestly, at this point, Evergreen Dog Co headquarters has slowly become… Tedquarters.
As the unofficial head of product testing, neighborhood patrol, rabbit surveillance, and overall quality control, Ted has developed a surprisingly firm stance on quite a few things.
Here are just a few.
1. Chasing Rabbits Is Great… For About 5 Steps
Ted absolutely believes he could catch a rabbit if needed.
The confidence is incredible.
The follow-through?
Questionable.
Usually the sequence goes:
- intense focus
- launch mode activated
- approximately five dramatic steps
- immediate reconsideration
To be fair, rabbits do move suspiciously fast.
2. Sniffin’ Is a Job, Not a Hobby
Some dogs walk for exercise.
Ted walks for information gathering.
Every mailbox, tree, blade of grass, and mysteriously important sidewalk crack deserves investigation.
And honestly? We’ve noticed something:
The harder Ted sniffs on walks, the better he sleeps at night.
Mental exercise is real.
Which explains why a “quick walk” somehow turns into a 37-minute neighborhood research project.
3. Walks Are a Right, Not a Privilege
Ted has never once looked at us during a walk and thought:
“You know what? That feels sufficient.”
No.
Ted firmly believes:
- one more lap is reasonable
- turning toward home is suspicious behavior
- stopping walks early should require formal documentation
- every evening deserves another outing “just in case”
Neighborhood patrol is serious business.

4. When I Find a Good Sniff… I Gotta Roll In It
Why Ted.
Oh why does this have to be??
You can literally watch the thought process happen in real time:
- finds mysterious smell
- sniffs intensely
- pauses dramatically
- immediately throws shoulder into the ground like he’s entering an Olympic event
And somehow this almost always happens immediately after:
- a bath
- grooming appointment
- or us saying:
“Wow, he’s so clean right now.”
Dogs stay humble. That’s their gift.
5. Other Dogs Don’t Really Matter When You’re Basically Part Human
Ted likes people.
A lot.
Other dogs?
Eh. Depends on the situation.
He’s polite enough. Civil. Professional, even.
But deep down, Ted seems fairly convinced he’s less “dog” and more “small furry human who happens to have excellent hearing.”
When another dog walks by, his reaction is often somewhere between:
- mild curiosity
- emotional indifference
- and “please continue admiring me instead”
Meanwhile, if a human enters the room?
Different story entirely.
Tail wag activated.
Full social mode engaged.
Honestly, we think some dogs just spend enough time around people that they start believing they’re one of us.
Ted certainly seems to.
6. Comfort Matters. But Style Does Too.
This is one thing we genuinely notice with dogs:
They wear their gear every single day.
They move in it. Sleep in it. Play in it. Explore in it.
So yes, comfort matters. Durability matters. Function matters.
But honestly?
Style matters too.
